Description:

Based in Milton Keynes, you will be responsible for supporting and communicating with field Engineers from all European countries, Japan and the USA and also with customers from European countries.


The main part of the work is office based, with occasional international travel.


Description of the main tasks:


Special Products Requests.
Proposals and concepts for special products to meet specific customers’ requirements.  Preparation of schemes, quotations on the cost level, selection of the manufacturing site and arrangements for quotation for manufacture.  Once ordered, design of the product with the assistance of an Engineering Designer.


Technical Inquiries.
Researching and answering technical inquiries from the European subsidiaries.  This often involves communication with the inquirer from any of the European countries, but also communication with the Japanese Technical Centre and at times also with the Technical Centres in the USA.


Applications and Claims: research and solutions.
Researching and finding causes of customers’ application problems.  Advising the customers.  Searching for causes of product failures and communicating with the appropriate Engineers


Design of new products for the European market.
Working with the assistance of the Engineering Designers and producing new designs to meet the market specifications. 
Arrangements for prototypes, testing and evaluation, arrangements for life testing and evaluation of the results. 
Preparation of the necessary documentation.  Production release of the new product.


Involvement in the European technical activities with and for all the European subsidiaries.   This work is at European level and might involve meetings and activities in different European countries.



• Providing innovative, cost effective solutions for customer applications.
• Building technical credibility and good relationships with our subsidiaries and customers.
• Transferring technical expertise to improve product knowledge in subsidiaries.
• Answering technical questions promptly and accurately.
• Review requests for customising existing temperature control equipment from sales to ensure specification is clear and viable.
• Review and negotiate temperature control equipment technical specifications with customers.
• Determine test plans to verify equipment performance and carry out testing.
• Determine component suppliers for temperature control products.
• Create documentation required for CE marking to Low Voltage, Machinery or Medical Directives.
• Responsible for ensuring timely completion of own projects.
• Participation on larger projects with supervision from senior Engineer.
• Provide technical product support to European subsidiaries.
• Visiting customers to discuss technical requirements for special products.
• Participating in technical market research activities.
• Technical support concerning directives and standards relevant to electrical products. 


Experience:


• Electrical or Electro-mechanical Engineering degree 2:1 or better
• Experience of managing small projects
• Experience of working in a development environment
• Experience in writing technical reports
• Experience of working with customers or suppliers
• Ability to work as part of a multicultural team
• Able to travel to European customers when required
• Minimum 2 years relevant experience
• Knowledge of PLC programming and application of serial communications.
• PC skills: minimum MS Word and Excel
• Excellent spoken and written English
